web ninjas

The Just-Eat Web Ninjas are currently in the process of revamping and giving our Rewards Point Shop a massive overhaul.

While they’re working their web-ninja-magic-skills on our loyalty scheme, use of points (redeeming & earning) will be temporarily suspended. Once we launch the new loyalty scheme, we will announce this via our newsletter, twitter, blog and possibly even the age old art of semaphore. Thank you for your patience while we work on this!

Best Pizza in Mississauga

Posted on October 29, 2009 by

Pizza. The concept of a flat bread covered in tomato sauce, cheese, a unique blend of herbs and spices plus any kinds of toppings you can imagine really caught on. And boy has it evolved from its Italian origins! I’m sure teriyaki chicken as a topping or a Thai inspired slice wasn’t on the original pizza recipe. Everywhere you go, there are restaurants enticing you with what they claim to be “the best slice in town”. But which one really is? We here at Just Eat are always on the search for the best places in town to satisfy your hunger. We’re excited to be reaching into the areas of Mississauga to bring people with a love of great food closer to their favourite restaurants and to bring Mississauga pizza lovers closer to the best pizza delivery restaurants in the city.

Amadio’s Pizza on Revus Ave. in Port Credit has been dishing up great slices and pies to Mississauga residents for over 15 years and now proudly display in their front window their Platinum Award for Best Pizza in Mississauga (as voted by their loyal and satisfied customers in the Reader’s Choice Awards of the Mississauga News).  Their plentiful and affordable pizza combos allow you to feed the whole family for less and allow you to customize the order to suit everyone’s taste. You can choose from any of their traditional signature pizzas or switch things up by selecting from their list of fresh toppings. Their menu also comes complete with wings selections and  pastas that include sumptuous meat and vegetarian cannelloni and lasagna. We’re happy to have Amadio’s Pizza on board with us so don’t forget you can order online today!

Another customer-declared favourite local pizza spot to check out would be Pizza N Joy located on Erin Mills Parkway.  The friendly team behind this “joyous” pizza establishment has been serving up slices for over 20 years. They offer over 20 different signature pizza creations stemming from Indo-German recipes touched with a bit of Greek flare. Hailed as one of Mississauga’s leading pizza establishments by the Mississauga News and Rogers Television, Pizza N Joy serves not just food, but a pizza experience. When it comes to exotic toppings, their extensive menu board runs the gamut. Try toppings like ginger, asparagus, gorgonzola, artichokes, eggplant, tuna or cactus potatoes for something truly unique. And if their pizzas aren’t enough to tickle your fancy, they also have selections of wraps, gyros, and baked subs for you to try. Starting to get hungry? Then order online today!

These top choice pizza restaurants are the talk of Mississauga, why not see for yourself what all the hype is about and order a pizza feast for the whole family today!

Best Wings in Toronto

Posted on October 28, 2009 by

Be it Friday night, Saturday night, Game Night or I’m Tired of Work Night, nothing beats spending an evening with friends at a bar with a few good points and a great platter of wings. Chicken in finger-food sizes slathered in mouthwatering, finger-licking sauces. Great alone or even better with a good dipping sauce (I’m odd, I tend to like blue cheese personally). And no, those celery and carrot sticks on the side are not just for garnish. But where are some of the better Toronto restaurants to hit up to find the best wings in the city?

What sets a good wing joint apart from the rest is variety! It’s very common to find a bar or pub that offers wing selections in buffalo, honey garlic or mild/medium/hot sauces, that’s pretty standard (and believe me, nothing wrong with a tried and true favourite) but wings in a sauce? Caribbean jerk? Peppercorn brandy? It may just be the flavour variety that’ll draw in a nightly crowd from near and far.

Wing Shop 366 in Toronto’s Bloor and Spadina area is known for their great selection of burgers at amazingly affordable prices. The quality of their food has been the toast of area locals for a very long time with good reason. But, they’re called Wing Shop for a reason. With a variety of 29 styles of wings to choose from, you’ll want to stop by time and time again (or bring a crowd) to sample them all. Their delicious wings come with choices of either stick-to-your-fingers sauces or dry rubs - try Fantasy Honey Pineapple, Plum or Lemon Pepper for a regular sauce or Parmesan, Roasted Garlic Pepper or Tex Mex for a dry rub. Since Wing Shop 366 is now part of the Just-Eat family, why not invite your buddies over, order a great wing selection online, and enjoy game night from the comfort of your own living room?

For another great wing option, check out B.B. Ques at Spadina and Harbord. They’re another local favourite with many returning and satisfied customers who rave about not only their great wing selection but for their other offerings of ribs, burgers and hot dogs. Their wing selections come in a variety of styles and sauces. The honey barbecue and Cajun mustard are good choices to start with.  B.B. Ques is also part of the Just-Eat family so ordering from their great menu is only a few clicks away.

The Fox and the Fiddle chain of pubs has been a personal favourite of mine for a few years now. It’s a top location for many locals to come for a pint of beer, their extensive menu that goes far beyond your average pub fare (the Thai stir fry and the Indian curry over rice are amazing). The large screen is perfect for watching Sunday football, the Leafs game or the next UFC fight (and if you are attending for game night, be sure to get there early to find a good seat!). But what draws people back for more are their great wing selections on special after 10 pm. Their signature buffalo butter is a local favourite but my personal top choice is the peppercorn brandy although the pineapple curry and ancho chipotle BBQ sound different enough to make it enticing!

With these and more great wing selections to choose from (and the opportunity to order online for a number of them), you can indulge in a great platter of wings any night of the week. Enjoy!

Top Toronto Vietnamese Restaurants

Posted on October 22, 2009 by

There is something very satisfying in “peasant food”. By nature, peasant food is easy to prepare, delicious, heart warming, satisfying and cheap. Bare basics taken from the household pantry or from their own farmlands used to create a meal that was both satisfying and nutritious after a hard day at work.  With the many cultures that now call Toronto home bringing their own delicious cuisines to set up shop on our busy streets, it’s not surprising that simple and satisfying cultural peasant dishes have made their way here.

Though I’m Chinese by ethnicity, both my parents spent a significant amount of time living in Vietnam before finding their ways to Canada. They opened a Vietnamese restaurant in Toronto over 20 years ago happily bringing to the city (to rave review I might proudly add) the aromas and flavours of Vietnam. Their restaurant specialized in rustic peasant dishes that were family favourites in the villages of Vietnam. Needless to say, these same dishes became a staple in our home throughout my childhood. I’m lucky to know what a good bowl of rare beef pho (noodle soup) should taste like.

It took a while to catch on but Vietnamese cuisine is becoming a trendy favourite throughout the city. Convincing my boyfriend to experience the tastes of Vietnam with me was not a hard sell and we soon found a local favourite to frequent. Ginger Restaurant is known for their fast and friendly service and delicious hearty (and incredibly affordable, $7 for a rather large bowl of beef noodle soup). You can dine in and enjoy the restaurant’s relaxed atmosphere, order take out or have it delivered (we enjoy dining at the Church and Wellesley location often but you can order delivery from their Bloor and Carlton locations on Just-Eat). Their rare beef pho (beef broth and rice noodles with thick slices of rare beef topped with onions, bean sprouts and green onion) is an easy favourite that have kept us going back for more (yes, very much like what my mom makes at home). Don’t forget to also try their hot and sour chicken noodle soup (a savoury delight), grilled chicken and spring roll over vermicelli noodles, and Vietnamese lamb curry with rice or a baguette (I suggest going for the rice as the baguette tends to be rather small).

If you’re in the Scarborough area and in the mood for a bit of south Asian flare, look no further than Krispy Roll. They offer a combination of Vietnamese and Thai cuisine that have been met with great reviews and draws loyal customers from all over the city (I’m not from the Scarborough area myself but the buzz about this place is enough to entice me to make Krispy Roll part of my next excursion out there). They’re known for their amazing pho, a definite crowd drawer. Other crowd pleasers include their yellow curry soup and vermicelli and sugar cane shrimp. Delivery from there is fast and friendly and only a few clicks away through Just-Eat.

When looking for your next dining experience, try going back to the basics of simplistic and satisfying peasant food, something that will leave you feeling warm from the inside out.

Great Toronto Sushi Restaurants that Deliver

Posted on October 20, 2009 by

Umami is the term given to the fifth sense of taste aside from the four we already know, sweet, salt, bitter and sour. A term derived from the Japanese word for “savoury”, it can be used to describe foods with whole, rich, meaty flavours. Toronto is no stranger to this taste sensation with many great spots popping up all over offering delicious Japanese cuisine (and its most well-known specialty, sushi) to ignite the umami from within. Why not take this evening to explore more umami flavours with a few choice Toronto restaurants dishing up delicacies from the Land of the Rising Sun?

Before commencing on this unforgettable dining experience, let’s start with a few choice terms. Sushi, sashimi, makimono, teppanyaki, what does it all mean? Sushi is a Japanese dish of hand-clumped vinegared rice topped with various ingredients, usually raw fish. Sashimi is the term for sliced raw fish on its own. Makimono will often be found on the same sushi menu and consists of rolls of vinegared rice, wrapped in nori (dried seaweed paper) and filled with raw fish and/or other ingredients including cucumber, avocado, carrot, shrimp, crab, or roe (fish eggs) just to name a few. If your tastes for the evening lean towards a more heated experience, teppanyaki is a great choice. A dish of meat and vegetables grilled up on an iron plate. Walk into the right restaurant and you can witness teppanyaki dishes being fired up before your eyes.

Now that you’re in the know, where is there to go?

One notable restaurant in Toronto’s downtown core that maximizes on the umami sensation is none other than Umami Sushi located at Bathurst and Deloraine. This great restaurant that also caters to kosher tastes offer the traditional sushi and sashimi fare with a few unique selections including Butternut Squash Crunch, Mango, and Red Pepper vegetarian maki. If you can’t decide from their a la carte menu, try one of their special combos that combine a chef’s choice of sushi and makimono. Their sushi pizza is perfect for something a little different - raw salmon, special spicy sauce, green onion, cucumber and sesame seeds on top of a crunchy rice patty. You can bring these great selections home as Umami Sushi delivers through Just-Eat.ca.

Another great restaurant on the Just-Eat family is Bikkuri Japanese Restaurant near Bathurst and College making it a top stop for University of Toronto students. Their long list of appetizers ranging from delectable yaki (grilled) selections, plenty of tempura options (the sweet potato is a personal favourite) to the more recognizable buffalo wings and spring rolls. Bikkuri offers plenty of sushi and sashimi options to be ordered individually a la carte or in combos to get the most out of your dining adventure. Their teppanyaki options of chicken, veggie or seafood grilled and served with a choice of noodles or rice comes complete with miso soup to wash it all down.

There are plenty more Japanese restaurants to excite your five senses (and five senses of taste) throughout this city and you’ll find a lot of them through Just-Eat where you can enjoy this unique dining experience in the comfort of your own home. So why not gather your family and friends, put on a great subtitled Japanese movie (or an anime for those so inclined) and order in! Itadakimasu! (That would be the Japanese equivalent to bon apetit!)

Select Lebanese Restaurants in toronto

Posted on October 11, 2009 by Karlo

How exotic an ethnic dish may be depends on where you grew up. Although I’ve lived in Toronto for most of my life, my family is from the Middle East so cuisine from that region is not as exotic for me as it may be for some of my friends of Canadian heritage.

The other night, my girlfriend suggested we try a Lebanese restaurant to “try something new”. I get this speech at least once a month; the last time it was Ethiopian food. Previous to this experience, I had not tried Lebanese food but given that I am of Armenian descent and a close neighbor to Lebanon I knew that the fare would be quite a familiar experience for me. Still, I had an open mind and, as shameful as it is to admit it, I had never tried hummus before so I figured, why not?

I had read about Ghazele restaurant through Just-Eat Canada recently and suggested it to my girlfriend. It turned out to be a great experience. I started with the tabouleh salad and ended with the chicken Shawarma. The food and the service was great and given that it is relatively close to where I live, I am looking forward to returning for seconds. I would especially recommend it for vegetarians as they have a great list of veggie dishes.

Oh, and it turns out hummus is extremely delicious! My girlfriend and I (and other readers as well, I’m sure) are always up for a new restaurant to try so if you have any suggestions for more exotic food experiences, please let us know!
